Freegal allows you to download MP3 files to your computer
and transfer to mobile devices
Freegal Instructions:
-
Freegal allows you to download up to 3 music MP3 downloads per week from more than 50 record labels.
The three-limit download counter resets each week at Monday 12:01 AM EST. -
To use Freegal, you must be a Boulder Public Library card holder in good standing and currently living in Boulder County. To be considered in good standing, you owe $10.00 or less in fees and your card is current.
-
Enter your Boulder Public Library card number (it starts with D00…) and click the Login button. You can play a random 30-second sample of any song without it counting against your weekly limit. When you have found a song you want, click on the “Download Now” link next to your chosen song. When you click on the "Download now" link, even if you cancel the download, the download counts toward your weekly limit.
-
If using a PC, the song file will be sent to the Downloads folder on your computer. You can open and play the song using any common media player. If using a Mac, you will be given the option to download directly to iTunes. Freegal does not currently have its own app, and therefore it is not recommended that you use Freegal on mobile device (such as a tablet or smart phone). Instead, transfer the music file from your computer to your mobile device.
