Sheamus recommends Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Cover ArtI really enjoyed this book! We see into the future a little bit and we touch on death. The main premise of the book is that two teenagers, Citra and Rowen, learn how to become a Scythe. A Scythe is a person in charge of death in the future. We get to see Citra's and Rowen's journey as they learn what it was like in the "mortal age" and how to fight and kill with ease. This book touches on death, murder, and love. With a Romeo and Juliet type story, this book is sure to entertain for hours. I give this book a 10/10. - Sheamus, 8th grade teen volunteer

Publisher description:
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.
